Facebook Chair Video Hints Zuckerberg *May* Have Created the Universe

Facebook is like the ocean, because it is blue, and full of things that should never see the light of day.

Facebook is like a venereal disease, because you were just trying to make a connection, and now you've ruined your social life.

Facebook is like the floor, because it is the place all my vomit is directed toward when I watch this video:

One billion users today.  One billion users and the best they could come up with is, "Facebook is like a chair, and now it seats 1 billion asses."

Rumor has it MySpace is trying to make a comeback.  And God let's hope so.  Never forget MySpace Tom, who was a friend to all of us, and who wouldn't have been caught dead putting out a video like this.

Jesus.

  1. I saw the post but did not watch the video until now. Wow. This is just. Lame. Really.

It's like a whole bunch of stuff that says - well nothing. Kind of like FB itself.

    1. Exactly. :)

Facebook has its place, but nothing can sustain that level of popularity indefinitely. Instead of acknowledging that, though, it seems Team Zuckerberg has decided they rule the world. Ugh.

  2. ummm, I wasn't tired - until I watched the video *insertbigyawnhere* ... that about sums it up. (and it is the truth, not even joking this time ... which is SAD! for what - by all the hating I have every now and again for FB - it actually has accomplished in terms of durability and market saturation)

    1. It *has* done an amazing thing in taking over so completely. And yet, I think that has as much to do with luck and timing as any strategy or superiority of the product. Social media is still so new! I've enjoyed watching Facebook grow and change over the years (even if I marked most of the changes by bitching about them :)), but considering they have no way of knowing what the internet will be like five or ten years down the road, that self-congratulatory (and, as you pointed out, BORING) video is really hard to watch. Ugh. Chairs! That's just the dumbest thing ever...

  3. I'm surprised you make no note of the new "give us $7 and we'll put your insignificant news at the top of your friends' newsfeeds" feature. Really?!

  4. And now I just watched the video. Wow! Facebook is there to make sure I know I'm not alone? I suppose I shouldn't hate, since I don't have a Facebook page, but it just seems to be the height of pretension.

    1. I had a line in there about paying but it didn't work with the flow! When I logged in yesterday morning, this video, posted by Mark Zuckerberg (whom I "subscribe" to) was at the top of the feed, and I immediately flashed on the whole payment thing, and how I was looking at the future of my newsfeed. *shudder*

It definitely is the height of pretension, especially for a website that started out as a glorified Harvard dating site, and has now morphed into a place that is as much about corporate marketing and branding as it is the lives of real people. I noticed yesterday that Zuck had "Liked" Chicken McNuggets on his profile - because nothing says "meaningful connection" like giving McDonald's permission to spam you with food-specific advertising. Give me a break.
