Spare me the Miley Cyrus outrage.

We love to build them up, glorify them, then revel when they crack, kick them when they're down, and celebrate them when they rise again.

There is nothing new here, nothing genuinely shocking here, certainly nothing surprising here, and are we all that incredibly bored out of our minds that to make our fun we're going to pretend there is?

If you want to be sad about something, be sad that Hilary Duff's masterful first album, Metamorphosis, turned ten years old today (!!).

That, my friends, is news that is truly shocking.

(I LOVE THIS ALBUM SO FREAKING MUCH; IT IS THE ESSENCE OF AWESOME.)

  1. Kinda get your point (although, there are some points to be made about that performance that have some relevance, but yeah, know what you mean).

Like that thing that's been going around on FB about how there is chemical attacks in Syria and no one cares and Ben Affleck is Batman and everyone goes crazy.

Like that's worth wasting your energy on? Priorities! It's a sick fucking world.

That's my input for the day.

    1. No, I know exactly what you're saying. I did not put a lot of effort into this entry (as is likely very obvious). Had this happened during a week in my life when I wasn't overwhelmed with many other things, I would have written something much more substantial, and explored a host of different reactions I had to both the performance and the internet's reaction to it...

But since it DID happen on a week when I was overwhelmed, basically all I could come up with was a mini-rant. :D

And in any event, I completely agree with our priorities being all wrong. So much else going on in the world right now... :-/ (Although...so much else is also going on in my life, which is why this wound up so short to begin with. So maybe I unintentionally made an even deeper point than I meant to. :D)
