UPDATE

Roughly thirty minutes after I posted that last entry, I pulled on my foot a whole bunch, heard it pop, and now all appears to be back to normal (!!?).

The theory that I had a misaligned bone made sense to me on several levels, though I really wasn't expecting to be able to pop everything back into place as easily as I did.  No, it did not hurt.  What hurt was walking around on it for the past week...

Granted, I don't want to jinx it, so I won't completely believe all is well until I wake up tomorrow morning and there's no pain.  But I did walk around most of Rhodes campus this afternoon in flip flops and not once did I feel a thing.

Hot damn.  (Also...yeah...I know...the Total Freak Out Award goes to...)

  2. Thank you, Jess!!! :) And thanks for being understanding...I went to my college homecoming yesterday and hung out with some people who were quite literally trying to give me an intervention (??!!), saying I'm "addicted to running" and they were "concerned about me" (!!).

I tried to explain that I actually run *less* than most marathon training plans recommend (mainly because I'm paranoid about overdoing it and hurting myself...and who can blame me), but I was practically being berated for this "addiction" which was compared to alcoholism (!) with me using it as a "coping mechanism."

GRANTED, I will be the first to admit that I rely on running quite a bit (as witnessed by the previous three entries), but COME ON. It's exercise! OF COURSE you're going to come to rely on it; it's what your body was built to do!!

Sorry this was long and rant-y. I just still can't believe that conversation actually happened. Me running 25 miles a week while training for a marathon (which millions of people do every freaking year!) is like alcoholism?!? What the fuck.

  4. Thanks, Scott. :) Although the celebrating might have been slightly premature... I ran 4.5 miles last night and felt great through the whole thing, but about two hours later...ouch. It's not nearly as bad as it was before, but I don't seem to have all the kinks worked out just yet. Hopefully a little more time will help. :-/
