Walk of Life

My work schedule is 7:30 to 4:00, which I love.  There are days *cough*Friday*cough* when my 6:15 alarm isn't the most welcome sound in the world, but general speaking, it's great.  I get home with enough of my day left to live a second life - one where it feels like the start of summer vacation, with long nights on patios, the Levitt Shell concert series kicking into gear again, and runs that end well before the sun goes down.

I usually stay in on Friday nights, as I will tonight, because I'm usually tired, as I am tonight.  Two nights in a row at Slider this week (that's what having a crush on [...] will do to you), but I like that.  I like being out on the nights when most people stay in and I like being sensible on a night when most people are out.  It's nice, too, to be in a place in my life where I can do that.  It's taken a very long time to find a reliable group of friends and to establish the places I want to spend my time and the things I want to do.  It's not perfect - there is no perfect - but there was a time not that long ago when my world felt much smaller than it does right now, and for all the wrong reasons.

Everything is moving, chugging along.

But isn't it strange how moving forward over time so often day-by-day feels like standing still?

Two years ago.  Or maybe yesterday.

  1. Congrats on that :)

Annie (who, again, ended up on the rather silent side)

    1. :)

And thanks. :D (Though I'm not sure how well I'm really doing...but I do like to say it's all good every now and again since the only person I tend to listen to is myself. ;))
